At Evoke, home means more than a roof over a child’s head and a place to eat. Our homes give young people a safe, comforting environment where they can express themselves freely without judgement or fear. Somewhere they can have fun, explore their hopes and dreams, and develop the skills to become capable, confident young adults.
Our relationship-oriented care, based around the idea of love, nurtures and nourishes each child’s personal, social and emotional well-being, helping them grow up happy and healthy.
We balance between giving children the unconditional love they need while holding them to standards that teach them to value themselves. This replicates the parent-child dynamic that’s so vital for healthy development.
Our approach is needs-led: there is no one size fits all care package. Everyone is different. And where some may use cookie-cutter methods to care, we take the extra step. What heals and helps one child might hinder another.
Every child has lived their own unique experiences before entering care. And some of those experiences may be difficult to process. That’s why we adjust our behaviour to meet their needs and suit their personality. And we continue to adjust as they grow up and their needs change.
We believe our care changes the course of children’s lives. After a challenging start, they reclaim their self-esteem, gain control over their emotions, learn to think for themselves and make decisions that help them succeed in life.
We aim to give everyone who passes through our doors outstanding care with the following objectives in mind:
Young people often have significant relationships with the adults in their lives, such as teachers, sports coaches and healthcare professionals. We know how much these relationships matter and do everything we can to help them continue. Where possible, we aim to help people rebuild relationships with family members and friends that may have broken down in the past.
Good care produces confident, capable adults. We teach each young person the skills to build a successful life for themselves – one with career opportunities, romantic interest and long-lasting friendships. This can include teaching them how to do household chores or professional preparation such as helping them get ready for a job interview.
Leaving care and becoming part of a new family is an exciting but scary time. It stirs up feelings. We support the children as they work through their emotions, and we manage their expectations so they can let go of their worries and start looking forward to their future with a new family.
Living independently isn’t easy. Most of us make a few missteps at first and need a bit of support while we learn to take care of ourselves. At Evoke Care we make sure everyone gets the help they need to make the journey from childhood to adulthood successfully.
